Accessibility
How the toolkit works with assistive technology, and how to tell us when it does not.
Last updated 3 November 2026
Our commitment
A toolkit for young advocates is only useful if everyone can use it. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA across the site, and we review new sections against that standard.
What is built in
- Every page has one clear heading and a logical heading order, so screen readers and keyboard users can move through it.
- All navigation and forms can be reached with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline.
- Text and interface colours are chosen to keep reading contrast strong.
- Pages reflow on small screens and respond when text is enlarged.
- Form fields have visible labels, and errors are described in words rather than by colour alone.
- Logos, photos and charts carry alternative text or a text description of what they show.
Known limitations
- The live policy dashboard on the Data Hub is embedded from Google Looker Studio, and the submission forms open in Google Forms. We cannot guarantee the accessibility of Google’s interfaces.
- Some downloadable templates are Google Docs or PDFs created by partners, which may not be fully tagged.
- Photos and project files shared by delegates may arrive without descriptions.
Need something in another format?
We can send any toolkit resource as plain text or Word, provide a large-print copy, or walk you through a page by phone. Email info@aunyd.com with the page or document you need.
Reporting a barrier
If something on this site stops you reading, hearing or submitting what you need, tell us: email complaints@aunyd.com or call +254 719 371 540. Include the page address and what happened, and tell us the assistive technology or browser you use if you can.
We aim to acknowledge every report within five working days and to fix blocking issues as a priority.
Ongoing work
Accessibility checks are part of each update to the toolkit. The data dashboards and downloadable templates are the areas we are actively improving.
